Tony's playing career goes back to his time with bands including Vatikan 3, The Deep, Les Enfants, The Mystermen and Blue Russia.
The latter toured in Europe and recorded in Hamburg with noted producer/engineer Tim Martin and had tracks mixed by Detroit producer and Van Morrison band member Jerome Rimson and Phillip Lynott. Based in London in the 80's Blue Russia worked with Led Zeppelin manager Peter Grant and Adam and the Ants manager Don Murfit and acclaimed record producer Tom Newman.
Tony returned to Dublin in the late 80s and used the experience he had gained writing and in production to write and record music for both film and television commercials, Tony reignited his passion for the creation of music when the opportunity arose to join the Trouble Pilgrims after a chance meeting with Steve Rapid after a The Justice Tonight of which he attended this gig featured The Radiators from Space,
Mick Jones (The Clash), Pete Wylie (The Mighty WAH) and The Farm at The Academy, Dublin.
Tony was very proud to have played as an honorary member of the Radiators from Space at The Philip Chevron Testimonial night in The Olympia which featured performances by Shane MacGowan, Damien Dempsey, Luka Bloom, Declan O’Rourke, Brush Shiels, Duke Special, Patrick McCabe, Gavin Friday, Johnny Duhan, Paul Brady, author Joseph O’Connor, Paul Cleary, Mary Coughlan, Fiachna Ó Braonáin and Roddy Doyle this night was the most fitting testimonial to the talents and incredible songwriting contribution to Irish music scene by the late Phillip Chevron.
On the live front Trouble Pilgrims have developed a reputation for delivering tight and exciting live shows.
Some high profile special guest appearances with The Boomtown Rats, Tom Robinson Band, The Blades, The Undertones and Daddy Long Legs have cemented their reputation and broadened their appeal. Trouble Pilgrims have played Electric Picnic on numerous occasions and created some memorable live moments on The Jerry Fish Sideshow Stage.
The band were invited to play at the prestigious Kilkenny Roots Festival in 2015 and as such was the response to three appearances over that weekend they have returned to the festivals were equally successful. Tony has also played numerous performances as a Trouble Pilgrims duo with fellow Pilgrim Pete Holidai in The Set Theatre Kilkenny, The Viking Theatre, The Phil Lynott Birthday Bash in The Bloody Stream and
The Sean O'Casey Theatre in Dublin.
Trouble Pilgrims recorded their debut album over the summer of 2017 in Westland Studios with engineer Alwyn Walker at the desk resulting in Dark Shadows And Rust releasing two singles, the much-lauded double A side debut of Animal Gang Blues c/w Who Do You Love?
Which was followed by the Dublin snapshot Instant Polaroid (The Man on The Bridge).
The band’s self financed and produced ‘TV Special’ an hour long Dark Shadows And Rust: Live In The Studio
was screened at the IFI Cinema 2 with all proceeds to AWARE
In September 2020 the band headed to Hellfire Studios to record the basic tracks with engineer Joe McGrath for the new album.
Blood, Glass and Gasoline was then mixed by Tony and Pete in Pete Holidai’s newly constructed Pilgrim Sound studio.
Trouble Pilgrims played Forest Fest in Emo Village in July to very high acclaim
